Description
VoiceAbility supports people who face disadvantages or discrimination to have a voice that counts. They provide free and independent advocacy and user-involvement services. VoiceAbility's advocates can work with people in a variety of ways to ensure they understand all the options and get the best outcome for them. Their services include:
Care and Support Advocacy
- Do you need help to be involved in decisions about your care needs? An advocate can help you be heard and understand your choices.
- Do you live in Northamptonshire and need help to be involved in decisions about your care needs?
A VoiceAbility advocate can help you be heard, understand your choices and make your own decisions. People with a substantial difficulty being involved in decisions about their social care, who don’t have anyone who can support them, are eligible for an advocate to help them participate in the process.
A social worker will usually make a referral for Care and Support Advocacy. Please call to discuss eligibility asit varies depending on the type of advocacy you require.
Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy (IMCA)
The IMCA Service is for people aged 16+. Total Voice Northamptonshire provides the service for people who have been assessed as lacking the capacity to make important decisions.
Independent Mental Health Advocacy (IMHA) If you are detained under the Mental Health Act, then you have the legal right to get the support of an IMHA from VoiceAbility Northamptonshire who can support your voice be heard while you are in hospital.
