Blackthorn Primary School is a mainstream primary academy for 4-11 year-olds in Northampton. We also have Orchard Nursery where children are able to start attending the term after they turn 3 years old. Blackthorn Primary School is proud to be part of the Northampton Primary Academy Trust.

Primary Area of Need: Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)

Children Most Likely to be Considered for Admission

• EHCP with SEMH as primary need
• Requires long-term SEMH support
• Benefits from nurturing structured environment
• Can access some mainstream opportunities

What Does the Provision Offer?

• Small specialist unit
• Emotional regulation support
• Social skills development
• Personalised programmes

Not suitable for children who

• Primary need is not SEMH

Curriculum and Learning

Individualised curriculum focused on engagement, wellbeing and learning

Mainstream Inclusion

Pupils access wider school opportunities where appropriate.

·       Located within a mainstream primary school

·       Focus on emotional wellbeing and learning engagement

All pupils in the provision will have an Education, Health, and Care (EHC) Plan. The Local Authority will have identified their needs as requiring placement at Hardingstone Academy's resourced provision.
