Description

The Northampton Town Education Centre offers a broad, bespoke range of alternative provision and intervention programmes. These child-centred programmes aim to raise confidence, self-esteem, and aspiration, and to engage reluctant learners (or those who are in crisis, vulnerable, or at risk of exclusion).

The majority of programmes are sports-themed, however NTFC do have a creative approach to programme content as not all young people are motivated by sport. Their team of qualified teachers and education professionals ensure that young people make good progress during their time in the programme.

In addition to their range of confidence and self-esteem building activities (all underpinned with numeracy, literacy, and ICT training), NTFC's programmes can include accredited ASDAN courses, English and Maths Functional Skills, and Sports Leader qualifications (for under-16s). They can also offer GCSE equivalent Level 2 BTEC Sport qualifications to Key Stage 4 pupils.

NTFC's KS4 provision also provides opportunities for young people to progress on to post-16 full-time Level 2 and Level 3 football and education programmes, extended work experience placements, and apprenticeship opportunities.

NTFC's bespoke programmes tend to fit in to one of the group-size categories below:

1:1 Provision - For young people who may be in crisis or in need of additional support. They typically attend 1-3 days per week, depending on need.

Small Group Provision - Typically consist of 3-5 pupils from different schools with similar levels of need. Pupils often start in a 1:1 provision and then progress to an appropriate group. Pupils usually attend 1-3 days per week.

Group Provision - Typically consist of 8-12 pupils from the same school with similar needs. Pupils usually attend one full-day or two half-days per week for 6-10 weeks.

Whole Class Visits - Typically used by schools as a reward or as part of a transition programme. These programmes involve a number of different activities including NTFC themed activities, curriculum-based sessions, team games, and problem-solving activities in the Sixfields Stadium.
