Description
Sense College East is a special college for young people with extra learning needs. Students must have an Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plan and meet one or more of these:
- Be between 16 and 25 years old
- Have a disability, learning difficulty, or sensory problem
- Need help with communication
The college has three learning pathways:
- Learning for Life: This path is for students with complex needs. It helps them become more independent and get ready for adult life.
- Foundation Learning: Students learn skills for future jobs or study. They work on Entry Level and Level 1 courses. They also do other learning that supports their needs.
- Employability: Students get work experience and learn job skills. This helps them prepare for work.
The college also offers:
- Learning plans made for each student
- Lessons about life skills, safety, and British values
- Help with job and daily living skills
- Support with health and wellbeing
- Courses with recognised qualifications
- Hands-on learning with real-life tasks
- Help with social skills and confidence
- Support with sensory needs, communication, and technology
- Fun activities like sports, leisure, and social events in the community
