Description
Five to Thrive is an attachment-based approach to support positive parenting. It's aim is to support parents to be able to ‘tune in' to their children. It is useful for both parents and professionals.
The Five to Thrive approach has five "building blocks" that count equally towards parenting a healthy brain: Respond, Cuddle, Relax, Play and Talk. They are drawn from research into the key processes of attachment that forge bonds between young children and their carers. They are designed to support positive feedback processes, to observe and reinforce positive interaction between parents and their children.
Five to Thrive brings together important messages about very early development into five "building blocks". Health Visitors in Northamptonshire have information about this approach to development, as have many of the early years providers.
Printed guides, posters, pop-up banners and a range of age-specific supplements are available to support the implementation of Five to Thrive.
