Description
Everyone, regardless of their additional needs, and/or disability should be able to participate in Scouting. Scouting strives to work with parent/carers and with support makes reasonable adjustments to support young people with additional needs, and/or disabilities. With the right support, anyone can access Scouting.
Scouting offers a structured environment and a balanced programme. The range of activities and experiences on offer help young people in many ways to develop skills for life. However, they recognise that there are some things that young people may find challenging and need extra support. A scouting offer specifically to help with this extra support has opened in the Northampton District in 2019.
The SEND Scout Group will be running out of the MENCAP Northampton Building, Ransome Road on alternate Sunday mornings.
Scouting are hoping to develop this offer as a County and open other SEND Scout Groups across the County and are currently working to recruit more adult volunteers to make this possible.
