Description
The Children's Trust is dedicated to children with brain injury and multiple disabilities. Based in Tadworth (Surrey), they support children, young people, and families from across the UK.
The Children's Trust have a dedicated Placements Team who are happy to discuss (formally or informally) the referral process of each of their services, admissions criteria and the assessment process.

Specialist Rehabilitation Services
The Children’s Trust for children with brain injury and neurodisability deliver rehabilitation, education and community services through teams using a range of therapies, education and play to help them make the best possible return to everyday life. Children may have wide ranging physical, cognitive, communication, developmental, and psychological needs which require rehabilitation or a step-down placement from hospital to home, or another suitable environment.Each rehabilitation programme is tailored to the individual child’s needs and delivered by a multidisciplinary team including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, and play and music therapy.The Children’s Trust’s national specialist centre also features:
- a rehabilitation centre
- an aquatics therapy pool
- a gym
- specially-adapted equipment
- a soft play and sensory area
- on-site accommodation for parents (subject to availability)
The Children’s Trust School
The Children’s Trust School is a nonmaintained special school for children and young people with complex education, health, therapy and care needs. All pupils are supported through personalised multidisciplinary programmes, created in partnership with their families and supporters.
They are able to consider children and young people for long-term placements or requiring an assessment placement (they would expect a minimum placement of one year for those staying with residentially) who have been diagnosed with one or more of the following:
- a brain injury or disorder that affects neurological function
- global delay or profound and multiple learning difficulties
- severe learning difficulties
- sensory impairments (visual impairment, hearing impairment, multisensory impairment etc.)
- degenerative conditions
- complex health and medical needs
- tracheostomy
- assisted ventilation
- complex medication regimes
- epilepsy
They have an on-site specialist nursery available for children aged two years and above. They also aim to support children aged 0-5 with additional health and educational needsthrough Taddies, their early years parent and child group through a weekly offer.
They operate a 39-week educational curriculum with extended social/leisure activities during half terms and holidays, providing a flexible residential programme for residential pupils of up to 52 weeks, with flexibility for weekend visits home where suitable.
