Children’s 0-19 Universal Services (Health Visiting and School Nursing) - NHFT

The Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust's 0-19 services provide the Healthy Child Programme. This is a planned series of contacts (face-to-face or video calls)  with children and young people up to 19 years old and their families. Contacts for 0-4s are provided by the health visiting team. Contacts for 5-19s are provided by the school nursing team.

There is also an infant feeding support team, family nurses (for under-18s who are pregnant), a children's weight management team, and continence services.

The team aim to support families across Northamptonshire. It provides a universal service for all whilst also identifying those who might need specific help.

Confidentiality

Unless you give permission, a School Nurse will not pass on anything you say to anyone else, like parents, teachers, or other students - except in extreme circumstances like if the health, safety, or welfare of you or someone else is at significant risk. If they did need to tell someone about something you'd told them, they would always try to speak with you first. For their safety and yours, School Nurses hold information that you tell them on electronic records that can be seen by other healthcare professionals who all follow the same confidentiality rules - this can include your doctor. Records are kept for future use.
