The SEND Ranges - WNC

The SEND Ranges - WNC logo

Description

The SEND Ranges are used in West Northamptonshire to help local teachers and staff understand the needs of children and young people with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND).

They are based on the four key areas of need from the SEND Code of Practice (2015). These are:

  • Communication and Interaction
  • Cognition and Learning
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)
  • Sensory and/or Physical Needs

The SEND Ranges are also based on the ‘golden thread’ of the Graduated Approach. This is a process that is central to good SEND practice and is used across all four areas of need. It consists of:

  1. Assess
  2. Plan
  3. Do
  4. Review

Please see the Resources section below for an online version of the SEND Ranges.
