It is important to know about the weather in your local area, so that you can be best prepared for impending weather events. 

This becomes even more important if there is severe weather approaching that could lead to flooding in your community or across the county.

Environment Agency flood alerts and warnings

The Environment Agency provides flood alerts and warnings for England.

Sign up for flood warnings

This free service sends warnings by phone, email or text message when flooding from rivers/groundwater is expected. 

It also provides practical advice on what to do before, during and after a flood.

The Environment Agency provide information of river, sea, groundwater and rainfall levels.

Met Office weather warnings

The Met Office provide weather warnings for the UK.

The Environment Agency does not currently issue surface water flood warnings.

The Met Office provides severe weather warnings when heavy rainfall is expected. This rainfall can cause surface water flooding and affect smaller watercourses.

You can sign up for Met Office weather alerts to help you prepare for this type of flooding.
