Traineeships for 16 to 24 year olds
We offer two traineeship programmes if you’re coming out of education and would like to gain employment skills:
- Professional Business Services (16 to 24 years old)
- Health and Care Professional (18 to 24 years old)
Learning and development includes:
- Course in Functional Skills English (at Level 1 or 2)
- Course in Functional Skills Maths (at Level 1 or 2)
- Course in Essential Digital Skills (at Entry Level 3 or Level 3)
- Personal and social development: team working, job searching and CV development
- 3 days per week studying at One Angel Square
- 2 days per week working (Business Professional Services on Mondays and Tuesdays and Health and Care Professional on Thursdays and Fridays)
The course levels will depend on an assessment and prior attainment.
We hope to offer traineeships on a quarterly basis.
Programmes are 13 weeks long. Our start date and course details will be sent to you once you have registered your interest.
Working interview and qualifications
On successful completion, you will receive a formal ‘working interview’ where you can progress onto full-time employment as an apprentice or a council employee.
We aim to offer employment. However, if no vacancies are available, you will still end the programme with up to 5 qualifications.
Health and Care qualifications:
- Level 2 Award in Health and Care
- Level 2 Award in Infection Prevention and Control
- Up to Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths
- Up to Level 2 Functional Skills in English
- Up to Level 1 Essential Digital Skills
Business Administration qualifications:
- Level 2 Award in Business Administration
- Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths
- Level 2 Functional Skills in English
- Up to Level 1 Essential Digital Skills
You will also receive an employer reference and will have developed a CV to support future job searches.
Placement pay
Regulations mean we are not allowed to pay a wage or salary for work experience placements. However, for each day on work experience, you will receive:
- Up to £10 per day to cover travel (bus, train or taxi) between work and home
- £10 per day towards food and non-alcoholic drinks
You will need to provide original receipts for these expenses.
