Self-funder support

NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC)

If you have significant health needs, you may be eligible for NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC). The NHS CHC is a care package for adults aged 18 or over and is arranged and fully funded by the NHS.

To receive NHS CHC funding individuals must be assessed by Integrated Care Boards (ICBs). The assessment determines whether the individual has a 'primary health need'.

How to find out more

Find out more by contacting your local Integrated Care Board (ICB). The ICB is linked to your GP, not your local council.

Integrated Care Boards are responsible for planning and funding NHS services for their local community. ICBs work with GPs to provide joined-up care, addressing the needs of people with complex conditions and reducing health inequalities.
