Council Tax charges
Council Tax charges based on your property's band and the area you live in is available as a download.
A government body called the Valuation Office Agency decides which band your property is in. Most of the money we will collect will be spent on local council services.
However, we collect some of it for other organisations to pay for services that will benefit the whole of West Northamptonshire such as Police and Fire Services. We also collect money on behalf of town and parish councils where this applies. This will be shown on your bill.
Example breakdown for council tax band D:
|Council Tax element||Average band D charge across the whole of West Northamptonshire Council (£)|
|West Northamptonshire Council||1,433.92|
|Adult social care||174.85|
|Total for West Northamptonshire Council||1,613.23|
|Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner – Police||278.04|
|Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner – fire||68.20|
Please note, band D is the amount for the average council tax payer. These are the average Band D figures and will vary between the different predecessor areas (Daventry, Northampton and South Northamptonshire) until Council Tax is fully harmonised in 2023/24.
