Elections 2021

Local elections are taking place across West Northamptonshire on Thursday 6 May 2021.

They will be held:

  • for the new West Northamptonshire Council
  • for local town and parish councils
  • to elect a Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Northamptonshire

West Northamptonshire Council elections

West Northamptonshire is the area covering Daventry District, Northampton Borough and South Northamptonshire.

Voting will take place at polling stations to elect a total of 93 councillors to the new Council, which replaces the existing district, borough and county councils across the 3 areas on 1 April 2021.

3 seats in each of the following 31 wards will be up for election in the new West Northamptonshire Council area.

Town and Parish Council Elections

Elections are also due to be held for over 100 town and parish councils across West Northamptonshire, if contested, on 6 May 2021.

This includes the first elections to the new Northampton Town Council.

The Northamptonshire Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Election

On polling day, residents will also be able to cast votes for the Northamptonshire Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner.

The role of the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner (PCC) is to lead policing and criminal justice within their geographical area of responsibility and to hold Chief Constables and the police force to account.

Polling, counting and results

The Returning Officer for the West Northamptonshire election is Anna Earnshaw, Chief Executive of the new West Northamptonshire Council.

Polling and counting arrangements are being organised by West Northamptonshire Council, however correspondence may come from satellite offices in Daventry, Northampton and South Northamptonshire throughout the process.
