Description
The Place to Bee is a program for young people ages 18–25 who have special educational needs (SEN). It gives them a chance to learn work skills in retail and practice life skills as part of a Preparation for Adulthood (PFA) curriculum.
The program started at Northgate Academy and is now run by The Cube. Students get real experience working in a business.
What They Offer
- Work Skills: Training in health and safety, customer service, and food hygiene.
- Certificates: Chances to earn qualifications in important areas.
- Life Skills: Activities that help students become more independent and confident.
- Full Involvement: Students help with all parts of the business and learn skills for future jobs.
Student Journey
Students attend for 50 weeks each year. Before starting, each student comes for a two-hour taster session. This session explains what the program is and helps them decide if retail is right for them.
The Place to Bee wants to give students real experiences that help them grow, succeed, and get ready for life after school.
