Resources for candidates

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak called a general election to be held on Thursday 4 July, the constituencies that fall within West Northamptonshire are:

  • Daventry
  • Northampton North
  • Northampton South
  • South Northamptonshire

The election on 4 July will be using the new parliamentary boundaries following the Parliamentary Constituency Order 2023 - more information on these boundaries can be found by visiting Boundary Commission for England.

Candidates briefing

There will be a briefing arranged for candidates and agent on Friday 14 June at 3:30pm. Details will be sent to you once nominations have closed on 7 June. We ask that the meeting link is not shared wider than the candidate and election agent.

Candidates Deposits

  • £500 deposit
  • In legal tender (i.e. Bank of England notes – coins are not acceptable)
  • The electronic transfer of funds. Details of the account to which payment is to be made are:

If you are making an electronic transfer, you must ensure the money is received and identifiable before the close of nomination deadline.

Candidates or their agents are responsible for ensuring that cleared funds are received by the closing time and date for nominations, 4pm on Friday 7 June 2024.

West Northamptonshire Council and/or The Returning Officer can take no responsibility for deposits not received by that time.

The deposit is returnable after the election by bank transfer if the candidate secures more than 5% of the total number of votes polled by all the candidates in the constituency, otherwise it is forfeited to His Majesty's Government.

Submission of the £500 deposit does not secure your nomination as a candidate. You must also complete the nomination form and hand this in by 4pm on Friday 7 June. A link to this is above under "Electoral Commission Resources".
