Family Offers for Early Years and School Age support

Offers to parents, carers and families - Early Years

Step 1

Parents and health professionals can make a request for support via our online form.

Step 2

A home visit and observation will be arranged to better understand your child’s needs. Following this, we will agree on the next steps together, based on the graduated approach to support.

Step 3

Depending on your child’s needs, a practitioner may work with you to demonstrate helpful strategies. In some cases, Portage home teaching may be offered as the most suitable support. Together, we will decide what works best for your child and family.

Step 4

A play assessment may be completed.

Engaging with families

We actively engage with families through Family Hubs and local SEND group sessions, offering support and sharing information. This may include workshops on key topics, delivered in partnership with other teams, to help families access practical advice and resources.

Drop-in meetings

Drop-in sessions are to be provided at SEND parent groups and Family Hub sessions.

Advice and guidance meetings

These meetings are one-off meetings that can be booked once a month via Eventbrite.

If an offer of work is given or provided in schools, then a knowledge check and/or awareness training can be offered to targeted groups of parents.
