In support of Pride month, Daventry will host its first Pride event with a Party in the Park on Friday, 23 June, from 3:30pm to 7:00pm.

Everyone is invited to the free drop-in event that takes place at New Street Park which will feature a variety of family-friendly entertainment suitable for all ages - including music, facepainting, balloon modeller, a photobooth, bouncy castle, commercial market stalls with street food traders and of course, ice creams!

Organised by West Northamptonshire Council (WNC) in partnership with Daventry Town Council (DTC), the family friendly celebration aims to bring the whole community together to celebrate equality, diversity and inclusivity in Daventry.

A number of community groups will also be present on the day to provide information and support including Northamptonshire Police, Discover Daventry, Q Space and the Lowdown. The various agencies are available to speak with to offer advice and help support the Daventry and surrounding area LGBTQ+ Community, their family, and friends.

I am thrilled that Daventry will be hosting its first Pride event this year. Pride is a time to celebrate how far we’ve come whilst acknowledging that there is still work to be done in our fight towards equality in West Northants.

I would encourage people from Daventry and beyond to come along, celebrate diversity and stand in solidarity with our LGBTQ+ community.
Cllr David Smith, WNC’s Cabinet Member for Community Safety and Engagement, and Regulatory Services
I am delighted to join in Daventry’s Pride festivities, which celebrates Daventry’s diversity and underlines our commitment to being an inclusive town.

Daventry Town Council are thrilled to support the Pride event, and it’s great to see our local shops, restaurants, and venues equally advocate and participate in the celebrations.

Daventry retailers are even holding a Best-Dressed Window Competition, so come visit our historic town centre to discover your favourite. We hope to see lots of residents and people from the surrounding areas on the day joining in with all the fun as we all come together to celebrate Pride.
Cllr Ted Nicholl, Mayor of Daventry
