Let’s talk about men’s mental health
02 February 2026

North and West Northamptonshire councils are coming together to encourage conversations about men’s mental health as part of Time to Talk Day, with a free online webinar taking place on Thursday 5 February from 11:30am to 12:30pm.
The session will explore how open, honest conversations can play a crucial role in reducing stigma and helping people access the support they need. The webinar is open to the public and aims to give attendees practical guidance on how to approach conversations around mental health, whether with friends, family members, colleagues, or within the community.
The event will be attended by:
- Cllr Brian Benneyworth, Executive Member for Health and Leisure at North Northamptonshire Council
- Cllr Charlie Hastie, Cabinet Member for Housing at West Northamptonshire Council
- Skip, who will share personal lived experience of suicide and the importance of speaking openly about mental health challenges. Click here to find out more about Skip’s journey.
Together, they will discuss the barriers men often face in seeking help, the value of early conversations, and the local support available for those who may be struggling.
Time to Talk Day is the nation’s biggest conversation about mental health. This year’s focus encourages people to reach out, check in with others, and create safe spaces for supportive dialogue, something that remains vital as men continue to be statistically less likely to seek help for mental health concerns.
The councils encourage residents, partners, community groups, and local organisations to attend and share the invitation widely. By taking part in this conversation, participants can help foster a more understanding and supportive community for men’s mental health across Northamptonshire.
