Contacting your GP and local NHS mental health services
Find where to go for help if you or someone you know is experiencing poor mental health or a mental health condition. A good starting point can be your GP surgery.
Your GP:
- should be able to identify the appropriate level of response
- may suggest some form of self-help using local resources, with or without some medication
- may refer you to a counselling and advice programme - if your concerns appear more serious they can refer you to a specialist mental health service
Mental health services - working with the NHS
We work in partnership with both primary care and more specialist mental health services provided by the NHS to ensure that both health and social care needs are responded to.
