Pay multiple
The Transparency Code requires local authorities to publish their pay multiple.
The pay multiple is defined as the ratio between the highest paid taxable earnings for the given year and the median earnings figure of the whole of the authority’s workforce.
For 2021/22 this is 6.31/1
The calculation uses full time equivalent earnings if:
- an employee had worked less than a full year as at 31 March 2022
- an employee worked less than full time hours on 31 March 2022
The calculation excludes Schools-based employees and apprentices.
