Using the Bins
- No hot waste, liquids, or fires in bins.
- Lids must remain closed except during waste disposal. Waste outside bins won’t be collected unless pre-arranged (extra charge may apply).
- Bins must be accessible on collection day—no obstructions like parked cars.
- No hazardous materials (e.g., asbestos, batteries, fridges, chemicals). These will not be collected.
- Accurate waste description required via Duty of Care form.
- Collection delays due to unforeseen issues are not the Council’s liability; planned changes will be communicated in advance.
- No overloading—bins must be safe in weight and volume.
- Bins must be kept clean and free of non WNC attachments (such as advertising).
- Customer responsible for bin security—damaged/lost bins may incur replacement charges unless due to Council negligence.
- Missed bins must be reported as soon as possible.
Contract and Payment
- Bins are for Customer’s own waste only.
- Recycling bins must contain only recyclables. Failure to do so will result in the contents being disposed of by a separate collection and extra charges. There is a guide what to recycle on the website.
- Advance payment required—late/non-payment may lead to service suspension and bin removal fees. Ad hoc collections and return visits will be charged on completion of task.
- Price includes admin, contract management, bin delivery/hire, collection, and disposal. There is no VAT.
- Customer must inform Council of changes (such as address, company name).
- Bins remain Council property.
- Three months’ written notice required for contract termination.
- The Duty of Care Waste Transfer Note must be completed and returned annually.
- Annual price increases as per Council policy.
- If you want to change the size or number of bins you will need to complete a new application form.
