Business waste terms of business

Using the Bins

  1.  No hot waste, liquids, or fires in bins.
  2. Lids must remain closed except during waste disposal. Waste outside bins won’t be collected unless pre-arranged (extra charge may apply).
  3. Bins must be accessible on collection day—no obstructions like parked cars.
  4. No hazardous materials (e.g., asbestos, batteries, fridges, chemicals). These will not be collected.
  5. Accurate waste description required via Duty of Care form.
  6. Collection delays due to unforeseen issues are not the Council’s liability; planned changes will be communicated in advance.
  7. No overloading—bins must be safe in weight and volume.
  8. Bins must be kept clean and free of non WNC attachments (such as advertising).
  9. Customer responsible for bin security—damaged/lost bins may incur replacement charges unless due to Council negligence.
  10. Missed bins must be reported as soon as possible.

Contract and Payment

  1. Bins are for Customer’s own waste only.
  2. Recycling bins must contain only recyclables. Failure to do so will result in the contents being disposed of by a separate collection and extra charges. There is a guide what to recycle on the website.
  3. Advance payment required—late/non-payment may lead to service suspension and bin removal fees. Ad hoc collections and return visits will be charged on completion of task.
  4. Price includes admin, contract management, bin delivery/hire, collection, and disposal. There is no VAT.
  5. Customer must inform Council of changes (such as address, company name).
  6. Bins remain Council property.
  7. Three months’ written notice required for contract termination.
  8. The Duty of Care Waste Transfer Note must be completed and returned annually.
  9. Annual price increases as per Council policy.
  10. If you want to change the size or number of bins you will need to complete a new application form.
