Northampton Area Transport Strategy - Have Your Say

Overview

West Northamptonshire Council, following engagement with key partners, has developed a draft transport strategy for Northampton and its surrounding area. We are now seeking everyone’s feedback on it.

The draft strategy outlines the key challenges facing the town and sets out a vision and objectives for improving Northampton’s transport network over the next ten years and beyond. It has been prepared to align with the West Northants Local Transport Plan (adopted in 2025) and identifies a range of potential interventions that could be delivered in the future, subject to further investigation and funding.

This consultation is your opportunity to give us feedback on the strategy including our vision and objectives, and our potential interventions.

We welcome feedback from residents, businesses, all interested parties and statutory consultees.

Supporting background documents

As part of shaping the draft strategy, we have produced other supporting background evidence documents.

A Car Parking Demand and Capacity Study, which considers the current use of car parks, future demand, our priorities and options in Northampton town centre.  

An assessment of potential options for the future of the disused railway line between Brackmills and Northampton town centre.

You can have your say on the draft Northampton Area Transport Strategy by completing the online questionnaire.  

You do not need to answer every question.

Drop-in sessions

You can attend also attend a virtual drop-in session, where a presentation will be given followed by a question and answer session. If you are interested in attending a virtual drop-in, please email localtransportplan@westnorthants.gov.uk and you will be sent the joining instructions. You only need to attend one virtual drop-in.
