Disability Snowsport UK - Adaptive Snowsports
How to contact this service
Description
Disability Snowsport UK (DSUK) is a national charity committed to enabling snowsports for all, including people living with a disability. They promote adaptive snowsports, run adaptive snowsports schools, and facilitate monthly recreational snowsports sessions across the UK.
In Milton Keynes, DSUK are hosted by the MK Sno!zone in the Xscape Centre. They offer a monthly recreational snowsports session facilitated by dedicated volunteers and instructors who use a wide range of specialist equipment to provide a safe environment for skiers and boarders with disabilities. Skiers can practise what they learn during adaptive lessons, or simply enjoy a few runs together in a friendly social group.
Sessions are open to anyone living with a disability who has some snowsports experience and/or has had at least one lesson with DSUK (or any other reputable snowsport school). All ages are welcome. Please contact DSUK for more information.
The group is run by dedicated volunteers and instructors on a ‘not-for-profit’ basis. They use a wide range of specialist equipment to provide a safe environment for skiers and boarders with disabilities. Skiers can practise what they learn during adaptive lessons, or simply enjoy a few runs together in a friendly social group.
DSUK has negotiated with MK Sno!zone over the slope fees. Additional insurance will be required via a small fee at each session, or by way of an annual membership to Disability Snowsports.
New volunteer helpers (skiers / boarder and non-skiers) are always needed and most welcome, either to act as a slope buddy, or off the slope with by helping load or unload skiers from the lift.
Sessions are held on the second Sunday of each month. but for more information and dates and times of sessions, join the Facebook group and subscribe to the mailing list.
DSUK cannot offer formal lessons at Milton Keynes. Contact DSUK for more information and alternate locations.
