Description
NHFT's Special School Nursing Team is a mix of senior special school nurses, special school nurses and health care support workers. Together they provide care in special education settings across Northamptonshire.
The Special School Nursing Team offer help and support for families and children. This includes a wide variety of topics, including personal hygiene, healthy eating, etc. A large part of their role is training school staff with clinical competencies to enable them to care for the children/young people attending school.
Naturally, in any role working with vulnerable children and young people, the team are heavily involved with all levels of safeguarding. As a team, they also deliver the UK immunisation programme to children and young people in a safe environment. Review health assessments are completed for the Looked After Children on their caseload. A wide variety of referrals can be made to ensure the child/young person's needs are being met in school. The team's overall goal is to ensure all children and families receive the right support and services to ensure they achieve their optimum health and wellbeing.
