Description
Wagonik Integracyjny is a Polish-language support group. It brings together families who have children with autism or other developmental disabilities. The group aims to help families feel empowered, informed, and connected. The group meets once a month on a Sunday, from 2pm to 5pm, at the Camp Hill Community Centre in Northampton.
Wagonik Integracyjny focuses on:
- Supporting parents, carers, and children with autism.
- Raising awareness and understanding of ASD.
- Creating a safe and welcoming space where families can meet, share their experiences, and support each other.
- The group believes that parents play a key role in their children’s lives. It works to build a strong, caring community.
Activities:
The group’s activities are aligned with its mission and goals. These may include, but are not limited to:
- Organising monthly family meetups, which often feature sensory sessions, craft and art activities, music and movement based on the Knill method, dog therapy, physical exercise, therapy sessions, and creative writing workshops (e.g. comic books). These sessions offer a safe and engaging environment where children can play, learn, express themselves, and have fun, while parents connect and share experiences.
- Hosting events to raise autism awareness, often in cooperation with local organisations
- Sharing helpful information and updates on social media
- Inviting volunteers to support activities, events, and families
- Organising meetings with various SEN specialists to provide expert guidance for parents and carers
Wagonik Integracyjny is made up of dedicated families who agree to follow the group’s values. Each member signs a contract, pays a monthly fee, and promises to act respectfully during meetings and online. Membership is open to Polish families who have children with autism or other developmental conditions.
Volunteering – the Blue Team Volunteers:
Wagonik Integracyjny could not function without its strong and committed team of volunteers – the Blue Team Volunteers. They help organise activities, ensure the safety of all children, and support therapists and parents during sessions and events. They also play a key role in promoting the group in the wider community. All volunteers are officially registered with the organisation and follow the rules outlined in their volunteer contracts.
