Description

The Goed Life (pronounced “Good Life”) is a charity based in Northamptonshire. It was started in 2017.

It helps people with learning disabilities build skills, confidence, and independence. It supports real work opportunities and life skills through local projects and partnerships. The charity works alongside cafés, colleges, and community groups to help people feel valued, included, and supported.

The Goed Life was set up by the Goedhuis family. Their son, Sam, has down syndrome. When Sam began working at the Beehive Café in Northampton, his family saw many positive changes. Sam became more confident, improved his communication, and felt more included. This experience showed how important work and community can be. The family created The Goed Life so others could have the same chance.

The Goed Life does not provide care directly. Instead, it works with (and funds) local projects that offer practical training and support. These projects include:

  • The Beehive Café
  • The Place to Bee
  • The Horti‑Hub
  • Northgate Arts College projects
  • Training courses
  • Holidays and wellbeing activities
  • Support for individuals and families

The Goed Life is a registered charity (no. 1181491).
