Description

The Reading Doctor offers one-to-one reading support for children and young people who need extra help with reading.

The company supports children and young people with a range of needs, including SEND, dyslexia, autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and children who have missed parts of their learning.

The Reading Doctor is a national company. In Northampton, support is provided by Dawn Senior, a local franchise owner.

Each child receives support that is planned around their own needs, strengths, interests, and way of learning.

The aim of the service is to help children and young people feel supported, confident, and able to enjoy reading and learning.

How the Company Helps:

The Reading Doctor helps children and young people improve their:

  • Reading

  • Phonics

  • Spelling

  • Understanding of what they read

  • Confidence

Sessions use fun, practical activities to help children learn in a way that works for them.

How Support is Delivered:

Support is provided in a calm and friendly setting where children can feel safe and comfortable.

Many Reading Doctors have dedicated Reading Rooms with books, games, and learning resources. Sessions can also take place in schools, other education settings, or online, depending on the needs of the child and family.

Experienced Practitioners:

Sessions are delivered by experienced Reading Doctors. Many are qualified teachers and have experience working with children and young people with additional needs.

The Reading Doctor works with families, schools, and other professionals to help children make progress. Support is reviewed regularly and changed when needed.

All Reading Doctors complete enhanced DBS checks, safeguarding training, and reference checks before providing support. They also take part in regular training to keep their skills and knowledge up to date.
