Adult Social Care: Domiciliary (Home) Care - WNC logo

Description

Who is Domiciliary (Home) Care For?

Home care services are for adults aged 18+, who have eligible care and support needs as per the Care Act 2014 (Link)

What is Domiciliary (Home) Care?

Domiciliary care is put in place to support someone in their own home.

Domiciliary carers, also known as home carers, are professionals who help people live independently in their own homes through daily visits or multiple daily visits. They can assist with personal care, meal preparation, medication and other activities to help you to maintain a quality of life and independence.

How to Get Domiciliary (Home) Care:

A social care professional must refer you to this service.

If you've never used Adult Social Care services before, you can use this online form to help the Council understand any care needs you may have. They will use this information to decide if you might be eligible for support.

Adult Social Care Framework

West Northamptonshire Council (WNC) has an adult social care commissioning framework. A commissioning framework is a plan that helps councils decide what care people need, who will provide it, and how to make sure it’s good and fair.

WNC splits domiciliary care into nine local areas. These are:

  • Northampton Central (Abington & Phippsville, Castle, Dallington Spencer, and St George)
  • Northampton East (Billing & Rectory Farm, Riverside Park, and Talavera)
  • Northampton North (Boothville & Parklands, Headlands, Kingsthorpe North, and Kingsthorpe South)
  • Northampton South (Delapre & Rushmere, East Hunsbury, Nene Valley, and Shelfleys)
  • Northampton West (Duston East, Duston West & St Crispin, and Sixfields)
  • Rural East (Bugbrooke, Deanshanger, Hackleton & Grange Park, and Towcester & Roade)
  • Rural North (Braunston & Crick, Brixworth, Long Buckby, and Moulton)
  • Rural South (Brackley, Middleton Cheney, and Silverstone)
  • Rural West (Daventry East, Daventry West & Woodford, and Weedon)

WNC pays (commissions) the following home care providers:

Being part of a commissioning framework doesn’t mean we recommend the provider. Please check carefully to make sure the service is right for your family member.
