Description

Equilore is a mental health charity based in the UK. It started in 2017 and became a registered charity in 2020. Equilore uses the special bond between people and horses to help with feelings, confidence, and coping skills. It works with children from age seven, young people, and adults. It is especially helpful for people who find talking therapies hard.

Equilore’s main service is called Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy (EFP). In these sessions, people spend time with horses on the ground. A trained therapist is there to help. Horses are very good at noticing body language and feelings. They react in honest ways. This can help people understand their emotions and behaviour. The sessions feel calm, safe, and supportive. EFP can help with anxiety, low mood, trauma, and relationship problems.

Equilore also offers Equine Facilitated Learning (EFL). These sessions help people build confidence and learn new skills. They focus on communication, teamwork, and problem-solving. EFL sessions are for individuals and groups and help people learn more about themselves.

Equilore also runs outdoor programmes for children and young people. These include small groups and alternative education support. The sessions involve caring for horses, spending time outside, and getting emotional support. This helps build self-esteem, emotional control, and social skills.

All Equilore services take place outdoors in a safe and welcoming space. This helps people feel calm, connect with themselves, and learn skills they can use in everyday life.

Equilore is a registered charity (no. 1190998).
