Description
Action for M.E. takes action for end the ignorance, injustice and neglect faced by people with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (M.E.). Their vision is a world with M.E. and their mission is to empower people with M.E. to fulfil their potential and secure the care and support they need, while working towards a greater understanding of the illness and ultimately a cure.
Alongside providing targeted information, support and advice to children, young people and adults with M.E., their families, they also offer peer-support services that may reduce the isolation that can come with M.E. They also offer Healthcare Services alongside their Information and Support, Family Support and Advocacy services. Action for M.E. also have a dedicated section on their website for under-18s, as well as support services for families.
Action for M.E. works closely with professionals and policy-makers to improve access to appropriate care and support services, as well as collaborating with scientists, patients and clinicians to move biomedical research forward.
Action for M.E. offer a free young people's counselling service. Young people aged 13-18, with either suspected or diagnosed M.E., are able to access up to 12 sessions with their counsellors, who understand the impact M.E. can have on a young person and are there to listen and ensure they get the support they need.
