The gentleman has epilepsy and does occasionally have tonic clonic seizures (4 to 5 a year) and the Support Worker will need to support him through these. The gentleman can be quite outspoken so his Support Worker would need to be able to manage this. He can also have low moods and needs a lot of encouragement to motivate him.

Main duties

  • to attend and support the gentleman to take part in regular social activities; cinema/bowling/snooker/eating out
  • support to explore and try new activities
  • plan meals and shop for weekly groceries
  • manage medication - ordering and collection

  • when support is given in the home to help with any household tasks as needed and requested
  • any other task which the employer may reasonably ask you to do which falls within the scope of the job as a Personal Assistant

Additional employment information

The successful applicant will be friendly, able to give empathetic support while also managing TH’s sometimes challenging behaviour.

Awareness of ‘stranger danger’ and also TH’s poor road sense while out will be essential.

Must be flexible, trustworthy and active with a good sense of humour.

Please note you will be directly employed by the person (or their representative) that you will be assisting.
