Some of our vacancies require that you have a full driving licence and a car. This information is outlined within the roles.

About the employer

The employer is a young woman who has Secondary Progressive MS, living with her wife in their home in Northampton.

Main duties

Assist the employer, by transporting her to day centres and possibly appointments, in her own wheelchair accessible Motability van.

The following tasks are to be undertaken with another person, to put the employer to bed after the day centre visit:

  • Hoisting (ceiling track hoist)
  • Toileting
  • Ensure medication is taken
  • Ensuring a drink is given if required
  • Any other task that the employer may reasonably request to be done, which falls within the scope of the job, as a Personal Assistant

A female Personal Assistant to work weekends is sought, to carry out the following tasks;

Main duties

  • Getting the Employer up and dressed *
  • Toileting
  • Giving drinks as required
  • Preparing/giving breakfast and assisting the Employer with eating

Please note the duties marked with an Asterix (*) will be worked alongside with another PA/Carer.

Experience of using a hoist is preferred, although full instruction will be given.

About the employer

The employer is a young man, C, with learning difficulties. He lives in the family home, supported by his mother, as his main carer with occasional support from extended family to give her some respite.

He has no road sense or stranger danger awareness and so supervision at all times while out of the home to ensure his safety is essential.

A PA is sought to assist C on a Friday with accessing leisure and social opportunities in the local community.

Main Duties

  • Drive C on outings to local leisure venues and supervise/join in with activities
    • these can be: playing pool, swimming, bowling etc or just enjoying a coffee at a café
  • Accompany on walks in the local area
  • Support with activities at home, occasionally
  • Supervise his lunch/ snacks & drinks while out
  • Any other task which the employer may reasonably ask you to do which falls within the scope of the job as a Personal Assistant

Additional employment information

C can be incontinent and wears pads. Occasional personal care may be needed.

C has limited speech but enjoys social interaction. He is able to communicate well with friends and family and anyone who gets to know him.

About the employer

I am an outgoing friendly person who needs support in managing my daily life following an accident which has left me with physical difficulties so that I need to use a wheelchair out of doors. I also have difficulty thinking and planning and managing stress. It is important to me that my wishes and opinions are respected while at the same time I am supported when I am struggling to cope.

Main duties

I need help with all household chores including cleaning, clothes washing, changing bed linen, cooking a main meal and washing up.

I need support to make a weekly meal plan and help with shopping.

I pay my bills by online banking and need support with this.

I need support to arrange medical appointments and assistance to get to them.

A competent driver with use of a reliable car is essential.

Mileage allowance will be paid for travel while carrying out duties.

A young man, D, 24years of age needs support to engage in leisure activities and accessing the local community.
A personal assistant is sought to support D. The likely candidate will share D’s interest in physical exercise, able & willing to join in with him at times.

Main duties

  • to accompany D in his favourite pastimes to the gym, swimming and other pursuits. 
  • ensure his safety at all times as D has limited awareness of dangers when out in the community eg road sense and stranger danger
  • supporting with D’s access of the local community, enjoying walks, shopping and visits to local cafes
  • supporting D with his comfort while out by prompting when he should wear an outer coat or remove it in excessive heat. D has poor judgement of this and may not always say when he is in discomfort
  • any other task which the employer may reasonably ask you to do which falls within the scope of the job as a Personal Assistant

The successful applicant will be friendly, able to give empathetic support, and conscious of D’s needs regarding his well-being & safety. No personal care is needed.

The employer is a hearing-impaired lady living in her own home seeking a friendly and reliable PA to assist the employer with daily tasks.

A female personal assistant is sought to support her continued independent life enabling her to access the community, to shop and to attend medical appointments.

Main duties

  • Help the employer with light household duties (vacuuming, dusting, changing bedding etc.)
  • To assist with correspondence and to help with the management of finances
  • There is no personal care involved
  • To assist the employer in the preparation and cooking. Helping to maintain a balanced and attractive diet (diabetic type, low sugar diet)
  • To ensure medication is taken / to help with ordering medication
  • Any other task which the employer may reasonably ask you to do which falls within the scope of the job as a Personal Assistant.

The employer is a young man with learning difficulties and sometimes challenging behaviours. He lives in the family home, employing a team of support workers throughout the week.

He has no road sense or stranger danger awareness and so supervision at all times while out of the home to ensure his safety is essential.

A vacancy for a worker to cover Monday to Thursday daytimes has arisen. Other shifts may be available after the satisfactory completion of a probationary period.

Main duties

  • Supervise the employer while he has his breakfast and other morning routines
  • Help with cleaning and tidying the kitchen afterwards, as necessary
  • Support with activities at home
  • Help him to dress for the outdoors
  • Drive the employer to his day centre and support with involving him in activities there
  • Supervise his lunchtime there
  • Drive the employer on outings in the afternoon as above

The employer is a gentleman with support needs living with his partner in their home in Flore/(Northants NN7 area)

A personal assistant is sought to support him with his correspondence & associated tasks, providing companionship while his partner is at work.

Main Duties

  • to assist the employer with making drinks and light snacks, when requested
  • cleaning and tidying the kitchen afterwards, as necessary 
  • supporting the employer with his day to day correspondence and organising/filing this. Helping him maintain his diary for appointments, due bill payments etc
  • conversation and companionship will be a natural part of the support

There is NO personal care element. The employer has a small, well-behaved dog.

The employer is a disabled young mother seeking a PA for support with accessing the community and engaging in social activities, developing and maintaining personal relationships.

Main Duties

One weekday from 11.00 am start:

  • support with grocery shop and other provisions when necessary
  • carry shopping to/from employer’s car and put away on return to employer’s home
  • accompany on outings such as local coffee shops and other leisure venues
  • help with tidying and other household tasks as needed

Occasional weekdays – will be notified in advance:

  • accompany the employer to meetings with social services and other agencies, giving moral support, making notes of any pertinent points made at these meetings

Also:

  • occasional longer journeys with the employer to visit her family in Corby and Essex – will be notified in advance

  • To enable and empower a bright young man to access and participate in the outside 
    world, both socially and in developing his sporting interests like cycle, bike, climb & 
    ski
  • To gently challenge some of his perceptions of life to help him open up to new 
    experiences, and to reconsider his view of the world and what is possible 
  • To promote and encourage friendships and independence
