Are you eligible for energy saving home improvements?
Sustainable West Northants15 June 2026

West Northamptonshire Council is supporting those who need it most to make energy-saving improvements and is urging local residents to see if they could be eligible to benefit from the Warm Homes: Local Grant scheme too.
The Government has awarded £2.6 million over three years to fund home energy upgrades across West Northamptonshire, aiming to cut bills and keep homes warmer.
Low-income households, those receiving certain means tested benefits, or residents living in designated priority postcode areas can apply to make a range of efficiency upgrades to their homes. To date, seven households have benefited from the scheme, and we hope a further 40 households will benefit this year from the available funding.
Energy efficiency upgrades could include:
- insulation,
- draught proofing,
- smart heating controls,
- and low carbon heating systems, for both on gas grid and off-grid properties
The scheme applies to homeowners, or tenants in privately rented homes in England as well as homes with an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rated D – G and households on low incomes (total household income of £36,000 or less), have less than £16,000 of savings, in receipt of means tested benefits, or living in specified priority postcode areas.

Cllr Nigel Stanfield, Cabinet Member for Environment, Recycling and Waste at West Northamptonshire Council said: “This is a completely free scheme that can make a real difference to those who need it most by installing upgrades that can keep homes warmer while reducing energy costs.
“If you are feeling the impact of rising bills, don’t delay and apply to us today. Our officers will assess your application and may arrange a home survey to see what improvement work you are eligible for.”
The scheme is being delivered locally in partnership with Sureserve Energy Services UK Ltd, who will assess eligibility and manage installation of approved measures.
