Award-winning parks and green spaces across West Northamptonshire are celebrating another year of success after retaining a nationally recognised accreditation.

Abington Park, Bradlaugh Fields, Daventry Country Park, Delapré Park and Brixworth Country Park will all continue to fly the prestigious Green Flag, reflecting the ongoing commitment to maintaining these outdoor spaces for residents and visitors.

Daventry Country Park achieved the award for the 27th time, while Bradlaugh Fields, Brixworth Country Park, Abington Park and Delapré Park have proudly held onto their accolades for the seventh, twelfth, thirteenth and fourteenth straight years, respectively.

The Green Health Community Garden at Daventry, which is supported by staff from Daventry Country Park, also retained its Green Flag Community Award.

The parks have benefited from ongoing investment, with new equipment installed in the popular play areas at Daventry Country Park and Abington Park, and improvements made to the pond at Bradlaugh Fields.

But the awards are also testament to the ongoing support shown by our many volunteer groups. From installing new planters and raised beds at Daventry Country Park, to securing funding to improve the caddy pond at Bradlaugh Fields – their dedication and care continues to play an important role in enhancing these spaces for visitors.

The Parks also benefit from work provided via Community Payback, and the LIVE team, who support adults with SEND needs to get support and experience while helping out and running the café at Bradlaugh Fields.

Cllr Nigel Stansfield, Cabinet Member for Environment, Recycling and Waste on West Northamptonshire Council, said: “We are immensely proud of our parks, and retaining Green Flag status across all five sites is a fantastic achievement which demonstrates the continued hard work and dedication of everyone involved.

“Their continued success reflects the strong partnerships between the Council, local volunteers and community organisations, who help ensure these much-loved spaces remain places that people can enjoy for generations to come.”
