Final call to book your place at SEND Community Conversations

Supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)

01 June 2026

Residents, parents, carers, young people, professionals and community members are being encouraged to sign up now for the upcoming Community Conversations and help shape the future of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) services in West Northamptonshire.

A series of in-person sessions will be held across the area throughout June, giving people a valuable opportunity to share their experiences and help co-produce the new SEND and Inclusion Strategy.

Each session will use the Whose Shoes?® approach, an interactive and inclusive way to explore real-life experiences, understand different perspectives, and focus on what meaningful change looks like for families and services.

Community Conversations will run throughout June from 10am to 2pm and refreshments and lunch will be included.

We will also be holding sessions for children and young people, designed by our educational psychology team, to ensure their voices are heard and included in shaping the new strategy.

If you would prefer something more relaxed, West Northants Voices in Partnership (the Parent Carer Forum) is hosting a coffee morning. You will still have the chance to explore Whose Shoes? resources and share your views and experiences in a smaller, highly supportive setting.

  • Wednesday 17 June – The Link Café, Northampton Museum & Art Gallery, NN1 1DP, 10am to midday (please note that Museum only opens to the public at 10am)

Can’t attend? We have extended the deadline for our SEND survey, so you still have time to share your views via:

Insights from these sessions and surveys will directly inform the draft SEND and Inclusion Strategy (2027–2030), which will be shared for wider consultation in September.

This is a genuine opportunity to influence change, not just for now, but for the future of children and young people with SEND across West Northamptonshire.
