Leisure service update
12 February 2026

West Northamptonshire Council (WNC) and Everyone Active recognise the concerns around the upcoming transition to the new leisure contract in April. This change follows the expiry of the current contract across a number of facilities. At the outset of the procurement process, it was disappointing that Trilogy Active chose not to tender for the new contract. However, we are pleased that one of our valued partners, Everyone Active, was successful in securing what is a challenging and diverse portfolio, bringing both fresh thinking and strong local knowledge, alongside significant new investment.
Residents have been clear with us about the frustration they are feeling during this period of uncertainty, and that message has been heard. Many people rely on these facilities as part of their everyday routine, and the strength of feeling reflects how important they are to local communities.
We understand that members, staff and stakeholders are keen to know how services will continue, and we want to reassure everyone that maintaining access to facilities and activities is our top priority. From 1 April, Everyone Active will operate leisure services across West Northamptonshire. Gym membership prices will be price-matched for the first six months to provide stability during the transition. This will be accompanied by substantial investment in centres, including new fitness equipment, an enhanced programme of classes and continued improvements to facilities to support a modern, high-quality leisure offer.
The transition has been made more difficult by the limited engagement from Trilogy Active during the handover period which has restricted access to key operational information, including details of users, established programmes and direct engagement with staff. As a result, there has been an unavoidable gap in communication, which we are now working hard to address. Residents can expect continuity in pricing in the short term, alongside a step change in the quality of the environment and facilities as improvements are introduced.
While it is disappointing that Trilogy appears to be stepping away from working with the Council, we are confident that by working with Everyone Active and other partners, the leisure offer across West Northants will continue to strengthen, with increased opportunities for residents to be active and engaged.
In the meantime, customers are encouraged to visit the Everyone Active website to register their interest in fitness memberships, swimming lessons, club bookings or to submit general enquiries. This will ensure they receive the latest updates as further information is confirmed.
