A new alcohol and drug prevention, treatment and recovery service will launch this April to support residents across West Northamptonshire. It will be delivered by a new partnership involving Turning Point, Family Support Link, Double Impact, Bridge and Framework, and is commissioned by West Northamptonshire Council.

Inspire will launch on April 1st to provide a free and confidential service for people seeking support for alcohol and drug use. The service will also have a dedicated young person’s team called Inspire Young People.

To reach more isolated communities in rural areas, the new service will be delivered in local communities with more satellite sites, a larger outreach team and a wider range of support including clinical interventions and programmes to support people’s ongoing recovery.

Access to services will be made easier thanks to an enhanced digital offer that will include simple online self-referrals, a harm reduction app and online self-help guides.

The service will work on innovative pathways and educational programmes that provide support and understanding on issues such as co-existing mental health and substance use, the rise in ketamine use, and the dangers of synthetic opioids.

“Inspire represents a positive step forward in how we support people affected by alcohol or drug use. By combining the strengths of five specialist organisations under one service, we’re creating a more accessible, compassionate and responsive offer of help for our residents.

“This partnership will not only widen access to treatment, but also help people stay connected to their communities, rebuild confidence and move toward long term recovery. We know the challenges people face are often complex so our new approach ensures they can get the right help, in the right place, at the right time.”
Cllr Laura Couse, Cabinet Member for Adult Care and Public Health at West Northamptonshire Council
“We are delighted to have been awarded this contract by West Northamptonshire Council.

“This new service will embrace the expertise of each of its partners to deliver a service that supports people every step of the way on their journey to make positive changes to their lives, reconnect with society and give them pathways to training, education and employment.

“We will ensure that people are offered an expanded range of support to recover from the harm that can be caused through alcohol and drug use. Tackling these issues head on will improve the lives of people across West Northamptonshire.”
Sarah Hancock-Smith, Turning Point Regional Head of Operations

Turning Point will bring their expertise from delivering alcohol and drug services across 18 other local authorities in England to lead on clinical services and substance use treatment for adults and young people in West Northamptonshire.

Bridge, a Lived Experience Recovery Organisation (LERO), has been providing recovery services in Northamptonshire since 2005. They provide support and a programme of activities and groups to anyone in recovery from alcohol or drugs.

Family Support Link also have a long history of working in the county, providing group and one-to-one support to families and friends affected by someone else's alcohol and/or drug use since 2007.

Double Impact, another experienced LERO, will provide recovery and employment support and utilise the knowledge of people with lived experience in the continued development of the service’s offering.

Framework, who have been providing accommodation and support for homeless and vulnerable people across the East Midlands since 2011, will lead on the delivery of criminal justice and outreach services.

West Northamptonshire residents will have access to a joined-up service, with colleagues from all five organisations working closely together so people don’t have to navigate their way between multiple different parts of the system.
