A safe space for young people to talk about alcohol and drugs
16 September 2026

The event is being facilitated by Inspire Young People, the commissioned drug and alcohol service for West Northamptonshire, and will take place at:
- Brackley Medical Centre
- On Monday 21 September from 6pm to 8pm
It aims to create a free, safe and non-judgemental place where young people and their families can talk about alcohol and drugs or have a confidential conversation if they are looking for support due to a young person’s alcohol or drug use.
As well as an information stall in the main waiting area of the GP practice, the service will also have access to a room where confidential discussions can take place.
Cllr Laura Couse – Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care and Public Health said:
“There are very valid and real concerns about alcohol and drug use - particularly amongst some young people. We need to act early, make support easy to reach and ensure young people and families can ask for help without fear of judgement.
"This event brings confidential advice and practical support into the heart of the community, giving people the opportunity to have that first conversation before problems escalate and cause lasting harm.
“Starting a conversation about alcohol or drug use can be difficult. This event offers a safe and supportive space where young people and their families can speak confidentially, get practical advice, or simply find out what help is available.
“I would encourage any young person or family with worries or questions to drop in. It is free, confidential, completely non-judgemental and supportive, and that first conversation could help prevent problems from escalating and causing lasting harm.”
Andrea Knowles, Senior Operations Manager at Inspire “We are passionate about ensuring that our services are available and accessible to everyone in our community.
“This drop-in event is a fantastic opportunity for local residents to meet the team, find out more about the support we offer, and let us know what matters most to them. We are looking forward to welcoming people on the evening and having meaningful conversations about how we can continue to meet the needs of our communities.”
