Understanding the Ranges - Primary SectorA vital introduction if you have yet to embed the SEND Ranges into your setting. We will help and guide you through the process
  • To understand how to confidently place children within the Ranges, using a graduated response
  • To understand how to use ‘support plans’ to embed the assess, plan, do, review cycle
  • To understand how to integrate the SEND Ranges into provision maps, to inform staffing, interventions and costing
  • To understand how to use the SEND Ranges to complete referrals, using the descriptors as evidence

Join Helena Bull from Purple Oaks Academy for children and young people with Autism.

The training is developed by specialists in their field to help you meet the needs of children and young people in your setting through the SEND Ranges

  • To outline how to use the Ranges with this area
  • To explain assessments and referral processes
  • To provide signposting for resources and strategies for every classroom

Early Years - Using the Ranges Guidance

The SEND Ranges provide a helpful reference point for professionals in relation to identifying the level of need of the child, what support can be put in place to aid the learning and development and will help to determine if the child meets Targeted SEND Funding criteria or referral for EHC

Adaptive Teaching and the SEND RangesLead SENDCos will share Adaptive Teaching Strategies to embed Quality First Teaching to meet children and young people with a range of SEND in line with the SEND Ranges
  • To look at the high quality, impactful teaching strategies identified and how to meet the challenges of developing a shared understanding of what they look like in practice across a school
  • To understand the difference between differentiation and adaptive teaching
  • Learn how to identify pupils who need new content broken down further
  • Make use of formative assessment
  • How to work closely with the SENDCO and DSL
  • Consider how the students previous learning may impact their current learning
  • To maintain high expectations for all students
  • Monitor impact and engagement using assessment for learning, book checks or other methods
  • To look at available well-designed resources to support teachers
