Our free stop smoking service

You are 3 times more likely to give up smoking with professional support, as opposed to going it alone.

We offer 12 weeks of telephone or face-to-face support, with e-cigarettes and nicotine replacement therapy sent straight to your door.

We can also offer face to face appointments in Northampton.
Following a national NHS England announcement in late 2024, there has been growing interest in Varenicline and Cytisine. However, these medications are not currently available through our service due to local supply challenges across the East Midlands.
We are actively working to secure a provider to prescribe and dispense these medications. While they are available privately online, we are committed to making them accessible through our service as soon as possible.
We appreciate your patience and understanding. For support or to start your quit journey, please reach out to our team by contacting us as instructed on the page below.
The West Northamptonshire Stop Smoking Service offers free, effective support to help you quit smoking, including:
- one-to-one behavioural support from trained advisors
- Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) products
- e-cigarettes as part of a structured quit plan

Vaping to stop smoking
Vapes can be used as a tool to support you to stop smoking, but we do not recommend vaping if you do not smoke. Electronic Cigarettes are age-restricted products and we can only provide them to those over the age of 18.
If you think you may wish to use a vape with us, please be prepared to prove your age during your first consultation. You will be asked to do this by emailing a photo of your ID to our secure inbox.
Nicotine replacement therapy
Nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) contains only nicotine and none of the damaging chemicals found in cigarettes, so it is a much better option than continuing to smoke. It helps you by giving you the nicotine you would have had from a cigarette.
Although you can purchase NRT over the counter, we recommend getting it through a specialist service and combining it with behavioural support. We can provide you with up to 12 weeks of NRT alongside one-to-one behavioural support.
Stop smoking medicines
The government announced that medicines (e.g. Varenicline, Cytisine or Bupropion - Zyban) can be made available to help people stop smoking. We are currently working with our partners to explore how we can provide these alongside our usual behavioural support.
Please note that until this work is completed, we are unable to offer these medicines to people using our service. In the meantime, be assured we will provide comprehensive support to help you quit smoking.
