Food Safety in Catering - Level 2 (taught)

This qualification is aimed at those who are, or intend to be, food handlers working in catering. That is anyone working in a catering setting where food is prepared, cooked and handled. It is also appropriate for those providing services to catering premises including pest-control operators, maintenance engineers, cleaners, and laundry and delivery personnel.

Cost and course topics

The cost is £92 per delegate. The course is a whole day (6 hours), usually run from 9:30am to 4:30pm with an hour break at lunch. Lunch is not included, but refreshments are provided.

The topics covered include:

  • how to take personal responsibility for food safety
  • the importance of keeping yourself clean and hygienic
  • the importance of keeping work areas clean and hygienic
  • the importance of keeping food safe

This qualification is assessed by a multiple-choice examination.

The courses are taught by qualified food officers and accredited to the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.
