Northamptonshire Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence Strategy 2026 – 2030

Reducing domestic abuse and sexual violence is everyone's responsibility. Through this strategy, partners across Northamptonshire have committed to working together to prevent abuse, support victims and survivors, and hold perpetrators to account.

Our ambition is that everyone, regardless of their age, gender, sexual orientation, disability, race, religion or background, can live safely, build healthy relationships and be free from the threat of domestic abuse and sexual violence. We recognise that every individual has unique needs and experiences, and that some people face additional barriers when accessing support and protection.

Developed by West Northamptonshire Council and North Northamptonshire Council alongside specialist support services, community organisations and statutory partners, this strategy is shaped by lived experience and informed by local needs assessments, ensuring that it responds to the needs of communities across Northamptonshire.
The strategy sets out a coordinated, whole-system approach focused on prevention, early intervention, effective support and protection, strengthening trust and confidence in services, partnership working, and holding perpetrators accountable for their behaviour. By working together, we aim to create lasting change and ensure that abuse is neither tolerated nor hidden within our communities.

We will continue to use evidence, insight and engagement to understand local need, inform decision-making and improve outcomes for those affected by domestic abuse and sexual violence. The voices of victims and survivors will remain at the heart of this work as we deliver the strategy and monitor its impact over the coming years through our action plan.
