Animal welfare data
As we are a new unitary authority, the licensing teams are still operating across 3 different sovereign software systems, with each of those systems having different functionalities and ways of recording animal welfare information. This means there are limitations to the data that can be provided and often adds delays to the responses for data being provided.
We receive a high number of Freedom of Information (FOI) requests in respect of animal welfare, which often ask many similar questions but with minor adjustments. While there are limitations to the data that is held, the licensing teams are keen to be open and transparent around the animal welfare data that it holds.
Therefore, to assist with providing more clearer and timely responses, we have created pages detailing the most frequently requested data. This information is split into enforcement activity and application activity.
It should be noted that due to the above differences with the way that some information is recorded, the information provided may contain some small inaccuracies (for example an answer has been provided if information exists on one sovereign database, but this detail may not be recorded on another database).
We are currently working on a new software system that will align how this information is gathered and recorded and improve how FOI responses are dealt with in the future.
Where a licence has more than one activity they will be included in the figures for each separate activity.
This information can be used in conjunction with our Animal Licensing Registers.
