What happens with your waste

Your general waste is sent to Milton Keynes Waste Recovery Park which has been constructed by Amey on behalf of Milton Keynes Council and brings together three state-of-the-art technologies to recycle and create energy from waste:

  • mechanical treatment
  • anaerobic digestion
  • advanced thermal treatment

Through the anaerobic digestion and advanced thermal treatment technologies, around 5.8MW of electricity will be exported to the National Grid per year - enough to power the equivalent of 11,000 homes.
