About Inclusion Funding
Inclusion Funding aims to help mainstream schools in West Northamptonshire provide early, targeted support for children and young people with emerging SEND needs.
It is non-statutory Element 3 funding from the Local Authority’s High Needs Block and is designed to strengthen inclusive practice, improve outcomes, and reduce the need for more intensive support later.
The purpose of the funding is to support early intervention, inclusive practice, and measurable progress for learners with SEND at individual, setting and community levels.
The following functions of Inclusion Funding were co-produced with a range of educational settings and services:
- Promotes Meaningful Progress and Positive Outcomes
Funding should lead to measurable improvements in the child’s learning, development, and overall wellbeing. - Strengthens the Child’s Sense of Place
It should enhance the child’s feeling of inclusion and connection within their educational setting. - Enables Access to Tailored Support and Innovative Approaches
Funding allows CYP to benefit from targeted interventions and new strategies, especially where previous approaches have not met their needs. - Creates Wider Impact Across the Setting
The benefits should extend beyond the individual child, influencing inclusive practice and capacity-building within the setting. - Closes the Attainment Gap
It should support children to reach their potential, preventing the gap between them and their peers from widening further.
