Local Nature Recovery Strategy Consultation

Background
Nature here is under pressure. We have very few designated wildlife sites and fragmented habitats, making it harder for wildlife to survive. The Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS) sets out priorities, actions, and the places where our joint efforts will make the biggest difference. It aims to make habitats bigger, better, and more connected, and to put nature at the heart of local decisions.
We’ve worked with local experts, communities, and organisations to shape this draft strategy. Now we need your views to make sure it’s right. Specifically, we’d like to know:
- Does the strategy feel ambitious but achievable?
- Have we captured your ideas and priorities? Is anything missing?
- Does it focus on the right species and habitats?
- Is it clear and easy to use for delivering nature recovery?
- Do you have projects or opportunities we should include on the Local Habitat Map?
- What are the barriers and opportunities for nature recovery?
Your feedback will help us finalise the strategy and guide how we work together to make nature recovery happen.

What happens next
Your feedback on the draft strategy and Local Habitat Map will help shape the final published LNRS.
We will carefully review all responses and use them to improve the strategy. A consultation report will show what you said and how we responded.
Suggestions for the Local Habitat Map will be considered through an agreed framework and panel. The final strategy will go to Natural England for approval, then to West Northamptonshire Council’s Cabinet for adoption, which we expect to happen from June 2026 onwards.
This consultation ends 25/03/2026
