Black History Month 2024

2024 theme

The theme for this year was Reclaiming Narratives. This theme emphasised the importance of recognising and celebrating diverse stories and the contributions of Black individuals throughout history.

Black History Month 2024 Celebration of Culture

Our annual Black History Month Celebration of Culture event took place on Tuesday 8 October at One Angel Square.

The event featured music from drums and Mbira instruments, with attendees wearing traditional clothing.

There were also guest speeches from:

  • Morcea Walker, Retired Vice Lord Lieutenant
  • Sharon De Leonardis, Community Associate at Royal and Derngate Theatre and CEO at SpectaculArts
