There are  many parks in the West Northamptonshire area, and 54 of the Northampton town parks have playgrounds. Abington Park and Becket’s Park and the Racecourse are the most notable. Abington Park is a 117-acre Victorian park built on the archaeological remains of a medieval village. It’s rolling grassy areas are home to 352 species of trees, a 13th century church, and a museum. The park also boasts sports facilities, flower displays, lakes, a sensory garden, toilet facilities, an aviary, a fitness trail, a bandstand, a cafe, and a modern playground.

Becket's Park is a traditional 20-acre park, built along the bank of the River Nene in the 18th century. It features tree-lined walks, a modern 80-berth marina, grassland, a playground, and sports facilities (including tennis courts and bowling green). Please note: there are no toilets at Becket's Park.

The Racecourse covers more than 118 acres and has a long tradition of being the major open space in the town for both regular formal sports and for major events.
