Providers of supported accommodation for people experiencing homelessness and rough sleeping

Any organisation developing or providing supported accommodation for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness or rough sleeping, wishing to work with WNC on referrals, must speak to our commissioners in the first instance.

If you would like to discuss how your organisation can support us to meet our future needs, please contact the Strategic Commissioning Team on [email protected].

Cost

Our commissioners will set expectations around rent rates in the initial conversations, where necessary, with reference
to our Revenues and Benefits Team.

West Northamptonshire Council will only place with services where the housing provider is registered with the Regulator of Social Housing.

Outcomes

Our 2023 Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Joint Strategic Needs Assessment published under Ambition 8: The chance for a fresh start when things go wrong, found that too few people in supported accommodation were being helped to move out of homelessness and into stable housing.

It also showed that many people experiencing homelessness or rough sleeping in West Northamptonshire were staying in supported housing for much longer than those schemes were designed for.

Where WNC refers an individual to supported accommodation, the authority must be assured that provider will deliver and evidence the support necessary for that individual to be able to find and sustain longer term, settled accommodation, suitable to their needs.
