West Northamptonshire Pre- Submission Local Plan Regulation 19 Consultation has begun

Residents and businesses across West Northamptonshire can provide formal representations on the Pre-submission (Regulation 19) of the emerging West Northamptonshire Local Plan.
The Local Plan is being drafted to guide decisions on future development across the area to 2043, including housing, employment, infrastructure, transport, and protection of the built and natural environment.
The consultation, which will run from Monday 5 October until Monday 16 November, offers an opportunity to comment on whether the West Northamptonshire Local Plan is legally compliant and sound.
Representations received during this consultation will be submitted alongside the Local Plan for independent examination by a Planning Inspector.
The consultation follows a direction by the Government for the Council to proceed with the submission of the emerging Plan no later than 31 December 2026 and progress the Plan up to the end of the examination process.
A decision had been taken earlier this month by the Council to restart the process of producing a new Local Plan, based on the 2026 National Planning Policy Framework and Town and Country Planning Regulations 2026. The Government has since intervened and directed the Council to proceed with the current draft Regulation 19 Local Plan, which has been produced in line with the Town and Country Planning Regulations 2012.
Preparation of the draft Local Plan has been informed by an extensive programme of evidence gathering, stakeholder engagement and public consultation. This has included four Regulation 18 consultations, engagement with local communities, infrastructure providers, landowners, developers, statutory consultees and other stakeholders.
Feedback received throughout the plan-making process has been considered alongside the Council's evidence base and has informed the preparation of this Pre-submission (Regulation 19) Local Plan.
